Post Thanksgiving

My first Thanksgiving away from home went really well. Andy and I sort of hosted dinner at his place for one of his cousins, her roommate, and our friend Eric. Andy essentially planned everything out perfectly, so he is free to be my master chef any day :)

Last weekend, I went to my first Seahawks game. I was able to sit in the stands and freeze for a quality duel against the Bears. Later on that week, I ended up getting sick... I wonder why. I also blame my 2 hour site visit to a project area on Wednesday afternoon where we walked around outside. During that time, I got hit by a car in a crosswalk while wearing a bright orange vest with reflective stripes. Stupid drivers amuse me.

Andy and I went downtown today to grab lunch with Molly's mom and I found out the chick that parks next to me in my garage isn't awesome at parking. She'd left a note on my windshield with her name and her cell number (which was really nice at least) saying that she'd accidentally hit my car on her way into her spot. I was sad because this was Jane's (my car) first traumatic event. I'm currently awaiting a reply to voicemail from her so that I can get the ball rolling and a new paint job on Jane's front fender :(

Random Thoughts:
  • Less than 1 month until the Winter Solstice!
  • I think I want to buy a mini evergreen tree for x-mas
  • 4 day weekends are awesome
  • I should go make dinner... later all :)

I Heart Rain

It's steadily raining out and I'm really enjoying it. Everyone thinks it rains a ton in Seattle, but its mainly just cloudy and we might get a little drizzle or mist for a bit and that's it. Now that it's actually raining like it should... it just feels right.

This past week has been crazy between hosting a dinner party, going to see a singer at a bar, getting my haircut...and forgetting my wallet after I'd driven there, and a ton of other smaller things that just seem to be piling up. On Tuesday after my haircut, I hung out with Andy and watched I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. It's a really good movie. I definitely would recommend it to anyone out there since it's such a broad ranging and extremely funny movie. Wednesday night, the new season of Project Runway started. I really enjoy that show because it brings out my the side of me that is a completely judgmental bitch. :)

It's a week until Thanksgiving. I all of you are ready for it. (I know I am!)

New Week

I'm ready for a new week. I've slept in two days this weekend, and I feel really relaxed right now. Also, Andy is coming back from Ohio tomorrow, so I'll definitely be excited to see him. There's a lot going on this week between our dance lesson and the dinner party we're hosting on Saturday. I think I also want to go to a Washington volleyball game sometime soon while the season is still going. Nebraska games were always fun to go to, so in a way its one of those things I miss from home.

It's hard to believe that it's already November, but at the same time it's hard to believe that I've only been here for just under 4 months total. It really feels like so much more time has passed (in a good way of course).

Football

This has been another sad day for Nebraska football. I can only hope that our coach is fired sooner rather than later before our entire recruiting class as well as our team is lost. Also, Notre Dame's streak against Navy is lost as well. I feel bad for Andy, but we can share in the pain of our teams.

In other events, I worked out after the games earlier today and it felt nice. However, my shoulders are feeling sore and I want a back rub. Any offers? :)

Bored...

So I'm really bored tonight. Andy is going home to Ohio this weekend, so he was busy packing and doing laundry at his place. I'll definitely miss him this weekend. I was actually looking forward to having some time just to do nothing for a while, but now it's like something isn't quite right so I'm feeling a little off. I'm probably just being stupid about him going away since it reminds me of how much I hated being long distance with David. Fortunately, this is only for a weekend, and I bet I'll be fine in the morning.

I've been a good boy lately and have been to the gym twice this week so far along with having a dance lesson on another day. Before this week, I hadn't actually worked out for multiple weeks. I'm definitely going to force myself to go to the gym and like it since feeling out of shape isn't something I enjoy.

Lastly, the South Carolina Democrats blocked Colbert from running. Lame. True, he'd never be president, but I think this would have actually been a good thing to get more people involved with voting and the primaries.

Dinner Night!

I feel like such a good boyfriend tonight. Andy is still at work and about to leave, and here I am at home after a stop by the store to make dinner for us tonight. I'm trying a new recipe where I'm actually making the sauce for the pasta instead of just doing something from a bag or a box. Heh, I feel so... elite :)

Lately, I've been reading the book Black Elk Speaks. I got it when I was in Portland because I am partially Lakotan (1/16th) and it really struck me because it was written by a man named John Neihardt. The dorm I lived in for my first two years in college: Neihardt. I took that as a sign and picked up the book. It's truly fascinating to hear stories of Native American history from a man that lived through it. The book was published in 1930, so it centers on a lot of events in the 19th century.

I've always had a deep respect for Native Americans, and a true sorrow for how they were treated in the past as well as how they are treated now. The actions of European immigrants were appalling from outright plundering to giving out blankets that small pox victims had. These actions continued with the actual US Govt through the use of treaties that were made and subsequently broken time after time. The book specifically mentioned how a treaty set aside the Black Hills, but then the treaty was ignored by pioneers and then broken by soldiers once gold was discovered there. It just reminds me of today's events with Darfur, AIDS around the world, and many other cases where our government stands so high and mighty for freedom and liberation in Iraq, but instead steps away from people that really need our help.

Busy Weekend

Here's a quick rundown of my life lately:
  • Work bowling social last Friday (free beer!)
  • Craig came to visit
  • Andy and I went to Portland
  • Nebraska and Notre Dame lost on Sat... surprise.
  • Seahawks won on Sunday... sweet.
  • Carved pumpkins at Adam's on Sunday
  • Went out for dinner for Craig's last night Monday
  • Tuesday went bowling with Molly, Andy, and some other new friends
  • Today, Andy and I had our first dance lesson.
My life has been crazy lately. I've got so much to do and Eric's bday is coming up this weekend, so it certainly won't be slowing down for a while.

Thanks to Craig, here's a picture of Andy and I. I just realized that I haven't posted any good pictures of the two of us yet, so here's one from pumpkin carving night:

Hope life is going well with everyone :)
